Crustaceans are one of my friend Faye’s phobias. She also has a problem with ears.

Anyway, it’s unfortunate she hates crabs, lobsters and prawns because our coastal waters are full of them.

We have Brown Crabs, Spider Crabs and Velvet Swimming Crabs. We are also lucky to have Lobsters, Squat Lobsters and Langoustine.

Crustaceans & Prawn Stars

At any good fishmonger you will also come across perhaps the most popular of all crustaceans – prawns. There’s quite a choice – Common Prawns, Tiger Prawns, King Prawns, North Atlantic Prawns and Shrimp. Prawns are great – you can shallow fry, stir fry, bake, grill, barbeque, double double toil and trouble…

Prawns are good for all sorts of things: grilled, barbequed, baked, Prawn with pasta… They really are prawn stars.

However, before you buy it’s worth having a read about eyestalk ablation. You’ll want to source your prawns properly after doing so.

Select your choice of crustacean from those listed below to discover more.
